How do I add a recurring receipt?

Sometimes you have the same expense every month. Like your rent. It’s important to know what you spent, and how that factors into your overall financial picture, but it’s not going to change from month to month.

In cases like that — where your spending habits won’t really change from one month to the next — it’s good to add a “Recurring Receipt” in PearBudget. Recurring Receipts are receipts that you set up once, and each month, on the day you specify, PearBudget will create a receipt for you, for the amount you set.

This way, you don’t have to remember to enter that receipt every single month. This is especially helpful and important for any transactions that are automatically withdrawn from your bank account, like monthly subscriptions or cell phone bill payments.

Here’s how to create a recurring receipt:

  1. Open the pop-up window for the category in which you’d like to set up a recurring receipt. You can do this by clicking on the category name on either the "Plan" or "Review" pages.

  2. In the pop-up window, navigate to the “Settings” tab.

  3. Under “Recurring Receipts”, choose the date you’d like PearBudget to create this receipt each month.

  4. Enter the recurring amount and any notes or tags (separated with commas) you’d like to use.

  5. Click on “add”!

  6. If you need to make any changes, you can always delete a recurring receipt from this part of the pop-up window, and simply add a new one.
